Time for Metal

It’s going to be a slow process (unless I win the lottery) to see any big changes in my home.  At least I have a home!  And I love living on an acre.   A mile from almost any store you can imagine.   Anyway… about a year ago I bought this 27 drawer metal cabinet that I found on Craigslist.  Now it’s in my kitchen, and I love it.  It doesn’t go with the 80′s vinyl, or the rest of the kitchen, but it’s a start.  I just have to pretend it’s on a hardwood floor.

I love it!  This is what used to be in the same spot, for 22 years.  Now it’s time for something else.

The hoosier is for sale in the Antique Trove, in Roseville, CA.  My sister is one of the dealers in the store, which is like an antique mall.

I’m experimenting with labels and fonts.  As for the cabinet, it was originally tan, and someone painted it white.  Some of the paint is chipping off, which is great!  I gave it a thorough washing yesterday, and it dried quickly in the 90 degree heat.

The wooden frame above it is a recent find.  More details later.  The globe is from Goodwill.  I couldn’t believe my luck.  I had always wanted one, and this one was still in the cart to be unloaded.  I think it was $5.99.

Also- thanks to The Vintage Bricoleur for hosting the most recent blog forum.  And thanks to Courtney, from  French Country Cottage for making the trip and giving us some help.  It was fun seeing some familiar faces, and a lot of new ones!

Happy blogging!

Beth
